About Us
Our Story
Coastal Cattle Company began as a heartfelt dream of Melissa and Chad, two first-generation ranchers who never pictured themselves running a bustling South Carolina Beef Farm. In 2020, their youngest daughter’s involvement in a local agricultural program brought unexpected livestock—starting with goats and culminating in the adoption of a bottle-fed bull calf named “Oxford Wellington.” Although they initially cared for chickens, ducks, and even honey bees, Melissa and Chad soon realized their passion lay in cultivating pasture-raised Wagyu beef cattle, famed for exceptional flavor.
Drawing upon Summerville’s Low Country charm, the family rebranded from Streyffeler Acres LLC to Coastal Cattle Company. Their guiding philosophy remains simple yet powerful: provide every animal with the best life possible, so customers can savor the difference in every bite. Sustainable practices, transparent communication, and genuine community spirit form the backbone of their operation. From humble beginnings to a thriving local farm, Melissa and Chad have turned their family’s dedication into a growing enterprise that proudly serves the South Carolina community.
Our Cattle & Farming Practices
When it comes to beef, superior taste and texture are the hallmark qualities people crave. At Coastal Cattle Company, we nurture these traits by focusing on sustainable agriculture and high animal welfare standards. Our pastures in Summerville’s Low Country provide the ideal environment for rotational grazing, a method that benefits both the cattle and the land. By moving our herds regularly, we encourage soil regeneration, promote diverse plant growth, and offer our beef the freshest possible forage throughout the year.
Because animal welfare sits at the heart of our practices, every cow is closely monitored for health and comfort. Should antibiotics become necessary, that particular cow is moved out of our consumption-ready stock. This approach upholds our commitment to delivering antibiotic-free beef products without compromising an animal’s well-being. We also incorporate high-quality mineral supplements and professional vet checks, ensuring each of our cattle matures in a stress-free, enriching environment.
The result is a beef product defined by rich marbling, unbeatable tenderness, and full-bodied flavor. From conscientious breeding to sustainable land stewardship, everything we do is aimed at bringing you the very best beef South Carolina has to offer.
Meet the team & Family Values

Coastal Cattle Company thrives on teamwork, family dedication, and a love for the land. Melissa coordinates feeding schedules and daily herd checks, ensuring each cow is healthy and thriving. Chad manages pasture rotations and infrastructure projects, from fencing improvements to barn expansions. Their children, who grew up bottle-feeding calves like Oxford Wellington, pitch in on chores and share a keen interest in the farm’s growth.
This tight-knit approach extends beyond the immediate family. Friends, neighbors, and even farm visitors often lend a hand during harvest season or special events, creating a genuine sense of community. At the heart of it all are the values of transparency, compassion, and integrity.
By openly sharing what goes into raising pasture raised beef cattle—whether it’s monthly vet visits or mindful pasture rotations—we invite you to be part of the farm’s story. We hope you’ll join us for our journey to becoming a local leader in Wagyu beef farming as we expand and scale up our nascent herd of Wagyu cattle.
Supporting Coastal Cattle Company means supporting a local South Carolina family who believes that ethical animal care, sustainable practices, and honest connections lead to a better product and a healthier environment for all.
